Position Overview

The Staff Accountant, Tax is responsible for supporting the Company's tax function. This includes preparation and assistance with the Company's income tax compliance requirements for federal, state/local, and international jurisdictions; preparation and assistance with the quarterly/annual income tax provision process; and support of all other tax functions of the business. This position will work closely with Finance and Accounting personnel and other tax professionals in carrying out responsibilities.

Essential Duties

include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in preparation of federal, state, and international income tax compliance, including preparing estimated income tax payments and extensions, as well as all related analysis and support.
  • Assist in preparation of yearly/quarterly ASC 740 tax provision calculations.
  • Perform general tax analysis and reconciliations, including tax fixed asset reporting and monthly tax accruals.
  • Assist with document requests related to federal, state, and local income tax audits.
  • Gather information necessary for non-income tax compliance including sales and use tax, VAT, unclaimed property and personal property taxes.
  • Assist in preparation and gathering of information for various annual report filings.
  • Assemble information related to notices received from federal, state, and local taxing jurisdictions.
  • Assist in implementing new processes as it relates to tax law and regulatory changes.
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.
  • Ability to interact, coordinate, and communicate effectively with internal staff and external vendors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to be a team player and help the organization achieve its objectives any way necessary when called upon.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.

  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds for approximately 5% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, or related field.
  • Professional working knowledge of Internal Revenue Code and Regulations as well as US GAAP.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Excel macros and pivot tables and Word mail merge.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation.
  • Corporate tax experience utilizing knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 740 concepts.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Professional working knowledge with OneSource tax compliance and provision software, SAP, and BNA Fixed Assets.

Salary Range:

$58,000.00 - $92,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
