A Brief Overview Under the direct supervision of an RN, the Nurse Extern participates in the delivery of nursing care to patients. This position exists within the content of a time-limited student experience. Works within the clinical nursing area in a support role, assisting nursing staff in the provision of care to pediatric patients and their families. The program is open to students enrolled in an RN nursing program and must be within 12 months of graduation by the start of the program. You must submit your transcript (inclusive of the previous Spring/Summer semester). Talent Acquisition will reach out with further details and instructions. What you will do
- Under RN supervision, assists in the provision of care to patients and families. Follows Nursing Process to deliver safe care: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Responds promptly and positively to patients, families, associates, and all others in a respectful, courteous, and confidential manner.
- Follows hospital and departmental procedures and policies, including but not limited to patient safety, mandatory education, confidentiality, and attendance.
- Demonstrates ability to perform technical skills and use monitoring equipment, under direct supervision of RN/Preceptor.
- Demonstrates high standards of professionalism by maintaining a professional image in all he/she does.
- Responsible for efficient and cost-effective utilization of hospital resources.
- Identifies own learning needs and obtains necessary education to meet requirements of position.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- Technical Diploma Enrollment in a Nursing Program Required
Experience Qualifications
- In a healthcare setting Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Required
