Summary

Oversees technical, educational, and regulatory aspects of the LVPG Laboratories program. Ensures the requirements are met for laboratory accrediting agencies including CLIA and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Serves as a technical and educational resource in the operations of waived and non-waived testing in the LVPG laboratories.

Job Duties

  • Develops and implements Quality Assurance programs relating to laboratory testing.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for LVPG clinical staff to perform all laboratory testing according to LVPG Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Develops training and educational programs to maintain efficient operation of LVPG laboratories.
  • Maintains a procedure manual for all laboratory procedures performed within LVPG practices.
  • Monitors the performance and efficiency of LVPG staff and laboratories for compliance with established state mandated procedures.
  • Acts as a Liaison with Department of Health laboratory examiners for inspections and surveys in LVPG practices.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in biology, medical technology, medical laboratory science, or related field.
  • 5 years experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and laboratory safety methods.
  • Project management skills.
  • Computer skills including EMR, word processing (Microsoft Word), PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Mature emotional intelligence.
  • MLS - Medical Laboratory Scientist ASCP - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or
  • MLT - Medical Laboratory Technician AMT - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in science or healthcare related field.
  • 1 year experience supervising employees and
  • 3 years experience in a physician office practice laboratory setting.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
