Responsibilities

The Clinical Coordinator assumes accountability, leadership, responsibility, and coordination of patient care and training activities in the Operating Room. Works with Director to ensure shared responsibility of the clinical operations and departmental budget; delegation of patient care to appropriate personnel by making assignments based upon needs, abilities, and expertise; Coordinates the staffing schedule, provides oversight over staffing needs, recruitment efforts, and approves payroll if needed. Provides frequent rounding of the operating rooms to ensure patient flow and customer service is maintained. Accountable to ensure regulatory compliance and readiness of the department. Liaison to other patient care departments to ensure quality and safety outcomes metrics are met. Provides clinical oversight and is a resource for clinical staff members; performs other duties as assigned. Understands and supports the needs of the organization and supports the mission, values, and management of patient care services.

Checks with the OR leadership the day before surgery and the day of surgery for any changes in room assignments. Reviews case load and gives second rooms, if needed, after conferring with Anesthesia. Ensures that all add-on cases are written on the board, communicated with the OR staff and the necessary departments. Coordinates breaks and lunches to ensure compliance with the time limit and to ensure rooms are relieved on time if possible. Makes rounds of the operating rooms to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines. Assist OR leadership in enforcing proper surgical attire. Checks emergency equipment daily during normal hours of operation. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Oklahoma.
  • BLS required upon hire and must maintain.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Prefer minimum of 2 years' surgical service leadership experience in patient care management.
  • CNOR preferred upon hire, if not must obtain within 6 months of hire.
