Position Title: 21st Century Community Learning Center After School Program Support Staff (Instructional Assistant)
Location: Nestucca Valley K-8
Salary Range: $20.00 per hour
Report To: Site Supervisor, Program Director
Duration/Status: Monday - Thursday, 3:15pm-5:30pm

Program Description: The 21 st Century Community Learning Centers after school program is entering its seventh year in the district. The program engages with students outside of school hours and provides opportunities for academic enrichment, a broad array of youth development activities, and family engagement offerings. The program will function in support of students and teachers through in-person tutoring and homework support, and will connect with students through enrichment activities.

General Description
The Support Staff person is responsible for the supervision of a designated group of children, supervising the activities assigned to his/her group utilizing age appropriate academic, recreational, and physical education activities.

Principal Duties
  • Direct supervision of students providing an environment that is age-appropriate; safe, and fosters self-esteem, tolerance, and wellness.
  • Ensures safety Afterof children until they released to a parent/guardian or return home via activity bus.
  • Provides lesson planning and implementing of activities that are appropriate to participants' development levels, capabilities and interests, and is in accordance to the grant requirements and schedule of activities.
  • Provide positive reinforcement of desired acceptable behaviors
  • Ensure neatness, cleanliness, and security of the classrooms, hallways, and other areas of play and activities.
  • Follow the school site procedures to safeguard the health and safety of the children in the program. This includes, but are not limited to hand washing, sanitary measures, playground/safety rules, and rules regarding the use of supplies and equipment.
  • Become knowledgeable of the emergency file and emergency procedures and assisting in the supervision of required drills.
  • Supervise activities as required including outside play, enforcing safety rules and intervening when children are likely to injure themselves or each other

  • Willing to participate in ongoing training, education, and certification
  • Demonstrate initiative yet able to take directions
  • Demonstrated attention-to-detail, trustworthiness, dependability, and a strong work ethic.
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work with children, parents, co-workers, and public.
