Job Description:

OREGON YOUTH AUTHORITY Youth Corrections Unit Coordinator - Graduation Coach / Skill Development Coordinator (Limited Duration / Job Rotation) Woodburn, Oregon - MACLAREN YOUTH CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

Join our team as a Graduation Coach at MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility, where you will play a crucial role in providing proactive intervention and support to behaviorally and academically challenging youth. Using Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), Trauma-Informed Care (TIC), and Positive Human Development (PHD) approaches, you will help youth develop essential skills to succeed in their education and beyond. This position involves creating individualized plans to address chronic absenteeism, coaching on conflict resolution and behavioral management, and working closely with facility administration and multidisciplinary teams to foster a supportive environment that encourages youth engagement without the need for movement to a behavior management unit. If you have a passion for education, experience working with challenging youth, and strong collaboration skills, this role is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Your Role as a Graduation Coach

  • Provide proactive intervention and response to behaviorally and academically challenging youth.
  • Prepare plan for students with chronic absenteeism that focuses on improving attendance.

  • Collaboration with OYA and WESD Staff regarding behaviorally challenging youth and/or youth requiring conflict resolution.

  • Provide ongoing staff and team development in Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) and Trauma Informed Care (TIC).

Additional Information

  • This is a limited duration appointment that is expected to end on August 31, 2025. Limited duration appointments are benefits eligible and have a designated maximum length of service. The limited duration appointment has the potential to become permanent.
  • We may also fill this position as a rotational assignment open to current OYA employees in a permanent position. Rotation candidates are required to meet the position's minimum qualifications. Rotational assignments do not have the potential to become permanent without a separate competitive recruitment process. You must have your manager's approval before applying for this assignment.
  • This recruitment will be used to fill multiple current and future vacancies as they occur.

What You Need to Qualify:

  • A bachelor's degree in a behavioral science or related field; OR
  • Three years of experience observing, evaluating and recording behavior and maintaining discipline of individuals in a program related to juvenile justice, treatment programs, or special education within an institution or residential living unit; OR
  • An associate degree from an accredited school in a behavioral science or equivalent training program with an emphasis on juvenile systems, special education, and/or secondary education AND one year experience working in a juvenile justice, treatment, or secondary education program.
