About The Role

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Consumer Operations Manager is responsible for the management of consumer loan and construction draw policies and procedures. The position reviews Consumer loans for Approval, Counteroffers, Denials. They provide training in conjunction with Wheatland Bank Training Department to all Retail Staff that Originate Consumer Loans. In construction lending, the position oversees the approval, declines, withdrawals and incomplete loan application process. This position will ensure loans are compliant with loan policy, processes are followed according to procedures and exceptions are maintained within our risk framework. This position establishes and implements department lending policies and operational procedures consistent with overall company management policies.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITES AND DUTIES:

Consumer Loans:

  • Manages and directs the consumer lending department including activities related to the development, processing, and maintenance of consumer and residential mortgage loans. This includes managing the consumer Loan Portfolio for Past Due loans, Collection activities and Maturing Consumer Loans. Ensures a competent, motivated staff through hiring, training, counseling, supervising, and reviewing performance of staff employees.
  • Underwrites direct loans and indirect loans, which meet established lending requirements and provide maximum profitability to the company with a minimum of risk. Approve, decline, or counteroffer loan applications within set lending authority. Ensures compliance with company standards and practices and State and Federal
  • Processes and closes consumer loans, and supervises loan servicing activities.
  • In anticipation of renewals and extensions, candidate will review loan files to determine a needs list prior to underwriting.
  • Reviews Consumer Loan Applications, input into Consumer Loan Platform and underwrite for approval.
  • Well versed with HELOC's, RE Term Loans, Personal Lines of credit and Auto Loans
  • Reviews, understands and critiques both attorney prepared and Laser Pro loan documents prior to closing.
  • Reviews insurance coverage for new and existing loans.
  • Responds to branch staff and lender inquiries, processes and directs closing of consumer loans with Personal Bankers and lenders.
  • Communicates updates and/or changes to the DecisionPro system.
  • Supports Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) through business development efforts.

Construction Draws:

  • Supervises and assists with the collection of delinquent accounts. Maintains delinquency within company guidelines. Follows accounts to final resolution including repossession, foreclosure, bankruptcy, etc. Establishes repayment schedules, tracks payment on charge of Ensures the timely, accurate and appropriate processing and monitoring of construction draws
  • Trouble shoot BUILT system problems, investigate further functional uses of the software, and serve on advisory committee (as appropriate)
  • Manage the production of metrics reports and collaborate with key business partners on end to end process improvement of and bankruptcy accounts.
  • Assist in scheduling, and training department personnel
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy
  • Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • Review, analyze and evaluate workflow, systems, processes, and Construction Draw department needs for continual process improvements. Take the initiative to formulate and implement solutions that increase overall efficiency.
  • Maintain policies and procedures for the department.
  • Respond to audit requests and findings.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Business Administration, Finance, or Economics) and/or equivalent experience in consumer or residential lending.
  • 3-5 years previous lending experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

  • Must be self-driven, ambitious, and goal oriented, with strong analytical, underwriting, customer service, and sales skills.
  • Will have strong leadership traits, work ethic, written and verbal communication and time management
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Previous supervisory training or experience; will be able to effectively supervise lending department personnel.
  • Must be accurate, punctual, dependable, and professional in appearance.
  • Ability to relate to others and impart knowledge and information in a clear, precise manner is essential.

Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
