Location Job Description Job Summary The part-time Community Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in connecting Lurie Children's with neighborhoods in Chicago, particularly focusing on Austin and surrounding areas, while advancing community health and engagement initiatives across Chicago. Working closely with internal and external partners, this position will foster strong relationships with community leaders, government officials, local organizations, schools and residents. The coordinator works to support planning, implementation and evaluation of neighborhood-level health initiatives. They also represent Lurie Children's at various community events, meetings and coalitions to strengthen partnerships and enhance the hospital's ability to address the health needs of infants, children, adolescents, their families and their communities. Additionally, this Community Engagement Coordinator supports the implementation and evaluation of the Magoon Institute's strategic plan related to community engagement, ensuring alignment with the Community Health Implementation Strategy and organizational goals. They are responsible for preparing regular reports on the progress and impact of neighborhood initiatives, coordinating engagement opportunities and maintaining systems for tracking community health efforts. This part-time role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to support community events, with a hybrid schedule that includes a blend of in-office, at-home and community-based work. This position is part of the Operations and Planning team within the Patrick M. Magoon Institute for Healthy Communities, which serves as the hub for all community-focused initiatives at Lurie Children's. The Magoon Institute is responsible for aligning the Medical Center's clinical, advocacy, research and education expertise with community engagement, while supporting people, programs and partnerships that advance community health and health equity. This department provides engagement opportunities for employees, physicians and trainees and leads the development and execution of Lurie Children's Community Health Needs Assessment and Implementation Strategy. The Magoon Institute partners with clinical, public health and community outreach leaders and experts across the Medical Center to work towards the goal of advancing health equity and racial justice, and improving health and wellness for infants, children, adolescents and their families across Chicago. The Operations and Planning team within the Magoon Institute ensures the efficient execution of key functions that support the Institute's mission. This team oversees administrative operations such as human resources, procurement, contracting, and office management, while also driving the Institute's communications efforts, including content creation, employee and volunteer engagement and management of communication materials. The Operations and Planning team is responsible for fundraising, financial stewardship, budgeting, and financial reporting, as well as managing the community health data management system to monitor program impact. This team plays a pivotal leadership role in developing the hospital's triennial Community Health Needs Assessment and Implementation Strategy that is the blueprint for the Magoon Institute's community health efforts and oversees community engagement in communities of focus.
