About The Position |

Better Homes & Gardens is in search of a seasoned Senior Commerce Writer to spearhead the creation and maintenance of home shopping content, including evergreen product roundups and reviews. We are seeking a highly experienced and self-motivated individual who is deeply passionate about the home space and possesses the expertise to elucidate the critical aspects of product purchasing. As a senior writer of our team, you will be responsible for producing top-tier content.

About Your Contributions |

  • Use your top-notch writing skills for updating and generating new content for BHG, consistently upholding our quality standards.

  • Play a pivotal role in the product testing process, encompassing product evaluation in a real-world context, synthesizing results into written words, active participation in lab testing, and gathering insights from testers.

  • Demonstrate creative thinking by envisioning the ideal format of buying guides and exploring the incorporation of additional assets, such as video content and infographics, to enhance the reader's buying journey.

  • Maintain the freshness and relevance of our top content, ensuring it remains current and relevant.

  • Distill both complex and simple product categories into clear, concise written language, illuminating the qualities that differentiate a superior product from "good enough" one.

  • Stay at the forefront of product knowledge, researching emerging products, models, trends, and competitor selections as well as interviewing experts in the field to provide our readers with the utmost recommendations.

The Role's Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements

Education:

A bachelor's degree in journalism, English, or a related field is a preferrable

Experience:

A seasoned writer with 3 to 5 years of extensive experience in shopping content at an online publisher is required, ideally within the home or lifestyle domain.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in SEO best practices.

  • Experience working in a CMS and familiarity with affiliate tracking systems.

  • A genuine passion for products, particularly in the home and lifestyle realm.

  • Detail-oriented, driven by deadlines, and equipped with robust writing skills, along with a fundamental understanding of effective web content.

  • A highly skilled writer capable of crafting captivating headlines and engaging blurbs, all while upholding BHG's distinctive voice, values, and style.

  • A self-driven individual committed to contributing to the growth and success of our expanding company.

Pay Range

Salary: New York: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
