This type of appointment is not approved to work more than 999 hours per year for all positions combined. Should incumbents work more than a total of 999 hours in a year the appointment may not continue beyond one year of service.
Accountabilities
The teacher of voice is responsible for:

  • Teaching voice lessons to students; relevant techniques and performance skills.
  • Developing and implementing lesson plans catering to students' needs and skill levels.
  • Selecting appropriate repertoire and musical pieces for students to work on during lessons and performances.
  • Staying updated with current trends and developments in voice pedagogy and incorporating innovative teaching methods into lessons.
  • Meeting weekly with students to provide 30-minute or 60-minute lessons throughout the term.

Requirements


Professional Experience/ Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching singing lessons on a one-on-one basis, with preference for experience teaching at the collegiate level.
  • Professional performance experience preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work with students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.

Preferred Qualifications
Professional performing experience.
Education
Bachelor's degree in music required, master's degree preferred.
