Position Description The Manufacturing Engineer is an analytical person along with problem solving abilities within the facility, supporting production activities. In this role, one can expect to be on the factory floor daily, interfacing with production leadership, production associates, and the maintenance team. Understanding the needs of the product and how to achieve the needs is key to success in the position. Projects related to specifying and acquiring equipment to make new and existing products. The Buena Vista, VA manufacturing plant is the heating product plant. Products serve the residential, commercial, industrial and education markets. We are a growing manufacturing site located in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of central Virginia, looking to develop and grow our team of customer-focused problem solvers. Key Responsibilities Mechatronics or willingness to learn a lot about CNC controlled electromechanical equipment. Interface with original equipment manufacturers, service and maintenance technicians, and electricians Design equipment improvements to improve reliability, reduce changeover, increase throughput, and/or improve safety. Evaluate solutions for efficiency and cost effectiveness. Keep Manufacturing Engineering Manager informed of the status of assigned projects. As required by the project, the position writes material requisitions and explains the specific needs to tool and material vendors. If tooling work is done internally, the position explains the need to the department supervisor for build or repair of required tooling. Required Education & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering required,Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics preferred 5+ years of engineering experience Strong mechanical aptitude CAD experience; Ability to get in to manipulate and make certain drawings Strong interpersonal and communication skills Modine is an equal opportunity employer.
