Job Description:The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible performing decontamination disinfection, inspection, sterilization, and distribution of product to the Surgery and Procedures areas. Follows hospital, department and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) policies and guidelines to ensure the highest level of patient safety. Is responsible for using technologies such as copier/scanner, internet, handheld devices, electronic medical records, instrument tracking systems, inventory management systems and email. This role works within established procedures and guidelines and completes assigned tasks with a moderate degree of supervision.The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for working collaboratively with the OR staff. The Sterile Processing Tech helps to maintain consistent and continuous workflow between the OR and Sterile Processing while practicing excellent customer service. Major Responsibilities: 15. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Education and Learning: OR High School Diploma or equivalency + obtainment of the Certified Registered Central Services Technician (CRCST) within one year of hire DESIRED Completion of Surgical instrument Specialist program within one year of hire Work Experience: License and Certifications: REQUIRED N/A DESIRED Certified Registered Central Services Technician (CRCST) OR Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) Age Specific Population Served: Subject to inside environmental conditions (Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. For example, these conditions would include an environment with no air conditioning, working in a freezer or working near a boiler.)
