Overview

Responsible for transporting several types of construction equipment and materials throughout and between jobsites



Responsibilities

    Load and unload equipment and materials
  • Secure loads, is aware of load limits (weights)
  • Vehicle and equipment maintenance
  • Haul counterweights for cranes Haul water, sand and gravel
  • Ensure safety procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Communicate equipment and material issues between the office/shop/jobsite
  • Daily inspection of truck
  • Obtain required permits
  • Maintain a safe driving record
  • Handle basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with gas, checking oil, keeping it clean and making sure required inspections are performed
  • Advise Superintendent if trucks need major repairs and maintenance
  • Other duties as assigne


Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • One year certificate from college or technical school and/or one to two years related experience
  • Previous experience with transporting construction equipment and materials
  • Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Write simple correspondence
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
