Job Summary

The Animal Biologist will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health (NICHD). The primary objective is to provide services and deliverables through the performance of support services.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Perform gene transfer in mice
  • Perform Western-blots, G6Pase activity, and G6PT activity assays
  • Maintain GSD-Ia and GSD-Ib mouse strains and perform high quality qPCR for gene of interest
  • Perform genotype analysis, including glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity profiles
  • Perform molecular and biochemical analysis of gene of interest
  • Work with laboratory staffs to characterize a transgenic mouse line carrying a G6pt gene-specific mutation
  • Prepare reports and summaries based on results and findings
  • Attend laboratory meetings; present results and findings to staff.
