This position is with NorthStar Clean Energy, a CMS Energy company, and is not a position of employment with Consumers Energy.

The Manager Solar Operations will oversee and manage operations for the NorthStar Clean Energy Solar project. They will ensure all aspects of the solar project run efficiently acting as the representative for overall site perform and provide oversight on maintenance and trouble shoot complex issues with the solar system and associated equipment. The Manager Solar Operations will monitor employee performance for NorthStar standards and adherence to production goals. They will participate in the planning for future growth and changes in production demands by providing insights and operation statistics.

This position will be based in Branch County, Michigan.

Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Ensure safe, timely, accurate completion of all work orders, Planned Maintenance (PM) work orders, predictive maintenance and outage work.
  • Write and administer Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of site, access roads, substation, O&M building or office trailer and other site areas.
  • Perform inspections and support troubleshooting on solar plant either scheduled or unscheduled
  • Replace mechanical and electrical components
  • Operate High Voltage and Medium Voltage breakers and switches
  • Oversee work performed by contractors
  • Interface with regulatory officials, landowners, community leaders and other project stakeholders
  • Maintain compliance with all NERC, FERC and other regulator requirements including submission of reports and filings as required
  • Coordinate with corporate compliance department to maintain up-to-date standards of operations
  • Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary



Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:



  • Basic computer skills (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to learn and use company specific computer applications include a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), SAP, and other document retention and task tracking systems.
  • Understand and follow Company-established standard procedures for Reporting and compliance activities
  • Become familiar with business and department and Company plans and related material and be able to utilize the information appropriately
  • Utilize effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers, third parties, governmental authorities or the public
  • Provide business analysis and support services in a legal and ethical manner



Position Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Technical or related field required
  • Master's Degree in Technical or related field preferred
  • Journeyman Electrician certification preferred
  • 4+ year's experience executing general plant maintenance, solar operations preferred



Work Environment:



  • Indoor and outdoor work including in hazardous power plant environments and computer work.
  • Onsite in a power plant.
  • Able to work hours necessary to support the operating plant requirements including overtime when needed.
  • Occasional local and out of town travel for business and partnership meetings and other plant and fleet objectives.
