Roadway Design Engineer

STV's Georgia operation is looking for a Roadway Design Engineer to support our Transportation group in the Atlanta or Duluth offices. This position's primary roleis to process projects from notice to proceed to final project closeout including plan development, scheduling, cost estimating, specifications, and related administrative duties. Duties also include supervision and guidance as they relate largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Responsible for successful completion of assigned engineering projects. Applyintensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to all projects assigned. Makedecisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represents the company in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work

• Plan, develop, coordinate, and directthe completion of assigned projects. Establishand maintainprimary contact with clients. Prepareschedules to ensure projects are on time and within budget projections

• Determinetechnical and professional staffing needs; hire, train, manageand motivatepersonnel

• Establishand maintainquality and accuracy standards. Reviewand approvecomplete plans. Obtain approval of improvement plans and permitting by governing entities

• Help with project scope and preparation of technical writeups for proposals

• SuperviseEngineers and Technicians as required. Workcooperatively with other managers and employees to achieve the company's mission

Qualifications and Skills

• BS in Civil Engineering (Masters is a +)

• PElicensure in GA

• 8 or more years' experience of related experience

• Proficiency in oral and written communications

• Although the working condition for this position is primarily a professional office position, the position may at times be required to assist in fieldwork. The physical requirements and working conditions for the field work are as follows:

• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and environments

• Other physical requirements - squatting, kneeling, climbing, walking certain distances

Preferred Qualifications:

• State DOT design experience preferred

• Experience with Highway Drainage Design Software and HEC-RAS, Stormcad, etc. preferred

• Experience or familiarity with OpenRoads Design (ORD), Microstation and InRoads preferred

• Experience in the delivery of projects for government agencies, and local municipalities
