Position: Completion Coach

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborative Analysis: Work with Student Success and campus partners to analyze and interpret student retention and completion data, identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement.

  • Student Assistance: Help current students with course registrations and completions.

  • Degree Support: Conduct degree audit reviews, monitor and track student progress, and employ strategies to support degree completion.

  • Effective Communication: Assess and address student needs through supportive and respectful communication.

  • Guidance and Intervention: Provide the necessary guidance, intervention, and direction to keep students on track for completion.

  • Research and Dissemination: Research and share information on effective completion strategies.

  • Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate records and document student progression activities.

  • Reach Out Services: Partner with Student Success staff and campus partners to enhance student retention and completion through Reach Out services.

  • Additional Duties: Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, this position provides outreach to former and current IRSC students to facilitate completion of degree requirements. Works collaboratively with college departments relative to students' completion needs including but not limited to Academic Advising, Financial Aid, IRSC Foundation, Research and Reports and IRSC academic departments. Supports the Chief Retention Officer and works with staff to accomplish retention and completion initiatives

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works collaboratively with Student Success and campus partners to analyze and interpret student retention and completion data to identify and implement opportunities for improvement

  • Assists current students with course registrations and completions

  • Supports degree completion through degree audit reviews, student monitoring and tracking, and similar strategies

  • Assesses and addresses student needs through effective, supportive and respectful communication

  • Provides guidance, intervention, and direction necessary to keep students progressing through to completion

  • Researches and disseminates information on effective completion strategies

  • Maintains accurate records and documents student progression activities

  • Partners with Student Success staff and campus partners to provide Reach Out services to enhance student retention and completion

  • Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum two (2) years of work experience in leading, developing, and implementing strategies to enhance student success

  • Proven judgment, follow-up and organizational capabilities.

  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to identify and address student issues and barriers to success.

  • Demonstrate expertise in the use of technology to assist in tracking and retaining students through to completion.

  • Strong relationship-building attributes such as empathy, concern and commitment to student success.

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and be self-motivated

  • Ability to navigate the Internet for research and resources relative to student success and completion.

  • Ability to review data to identify gaps to enhance student completion strategies

  • Knowledge of FERPA.

  • Knowledge of technological systems, social media, and similar tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires an ability to sit, stand for long periods of time, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.

To perform this job successfully, the employee must possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Continued employment remains on an "at-will" basis.
