Senior Director, Global Logistics - Cell Therapy

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Senior Director of Global Cell Therapy Logistics to lead and improve our patient-centric delivery model in a cell therapy environment. You will have a background in managing autologous cell therapy and complex supply chains. You will manage the white glove logistics and customer service operations to deliver cell therapy products and an unparalleled customer experience to patients around the globe. The Senior Director will report directly to the VP of Supply Chain.

Responsibilities



  • Develop a global logistics and customer service strategy tailored to the needs of cell therapy, including scheduling and temperature and time sensitive shipments across clinical and commercial products
  • Develop a white glove patient delivery strategy to produce a WOW customer experience to differentiate AstraZeneca cell therapy for clinical and future commercial launches
  • Develop a technology and business systems strategy to improve cell orchestration, shipments, and patient support
  • Establish logistics processes, resources, and infrastructure to support autologous cell therapy supply across multiple global regions
  • Build and oversee end-to-end clinical and commercial scheduling, logistics, apheresis/product handling processes for cell therapy products across multiple regions
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations and Commercial Teams to ensure seamless integration of scheduling, logistics, and apheresis/product handling operations at apheresis collection and treatment centers, including onboarding training and routine support
  • Manage relationships with couriers and third-party logistics providers to ensure service level agreements are met and optimized
  • Use data analytics to monitor and report logistics performance, including important metrics
  • Address risks and develop contingency plans and strategies to address potential disruptions in the supply chain.
  • Allocate resources to meet the dynamic needs of the clinical supply chain, including staffing, technology, and infrastructure.
  • Lead a logistics team, encouraging a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance to team members, setting clear goals and performance goals.
  • Manage the logistics budget, ensuring cost-effective operations while meeting quality and service requirements.
  • Conduct financial analyses to support strategic decision-making and cost-saving programs.



Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; advanced degree (MS/MA, MBA).
  • 15+ years of experience in supply chain management and logistics, with a focus on the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience managing complex supply chains for cell therapy products.
  • Experience leading supply chain teams in a regulated environment.
  • Experience with logistics operations for cell therapy products
  • Knowledge of Good Distribution Practices, cGMP, FDA regulations, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading and developing teams.
  • Guide and influence decision-making at the senior level.
  • Resolve with the complex supply chain challenges and develop solutions.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and the use of supply chain management tools and software.



The annual base salary for this position ranges from $177,447 to $266,170. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
