People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for performing the the accounting and financial service functions for programs funded by grants or special revenue. These functions include preparing financial projections and budgets, monitoring of individual grants and transactions for compliance with private, local, state and federal fund requirements, billing and collections, journal entries, and financial grant reporting.

The staff accountant also supports the accounting department by managing corporate credit cards, assist with agency insurance applications and claims, completing assigned account reconciliations and journal entries, and serving as backup to other accounting staff.

Schedule: Full-Time, regular business hours.

Location: Hybrid position. Some in-person presence required at our headquarters in Eagan.

Hiring Range: $52,000 - $57,000, depending on qualifications, plus $1,000 hiring bonus for external candidates

Main Job Duties

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate the centralized accounting and financial reporting for grants and restricted funding, including: preparing budgets, forecasting revenue, estimating any carry-over of funds from one year to the next.
  • Research issues, prepare invoices/ billings and collect funds for the support of restricted fund expenditures. Reconcile grant/contracts receivable, payable and revenue accounts. Follow-up to ensure timely receipt of receivables.
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of all applicable fiscal grant reports and ensures the timely submission.
  • Assist in preparing journal entries and reconciliations for assigned accounts.
  • Responsible for set-up and maintenance of staff corporate credit cards according to policy.
  • Maintain liability and property insurance records, renewal information and certificates of insurance. Assist with insurance applications and claims. Manage renewal of tabs for company vehicles.
  • Assist with MN Care Tax filing and documentation.
  • Act as the primary back up to the Accounts Payable Specialist.
Requirements

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum one year accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated technical skills with MS Office (intermediate Excel, Outlook and Word)

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Accounting experience within a not-for-profit work environment.
  • 3-5 years of experience with public or privately funded grant administration.
