Interstates is seeking an IT Systems Administrator Intern to join our team in either Sioux Falls, SD or Sioux Center, IA. As an intern, you will assist in the support and maintenance of various internal systems, ensuring smooth operations across the organization. In this role, you will provide support in areas such as system administration, troubleshooting, and managing associated responsibilities, gaining hands-on experience while contributing to the success of our internal infrastructure. Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the support and guidance of System Administrator(s), the IT Systems Administrator Intern completes projects, duties, and tasks, including assistance with:

  • Endpoint Management
  • Access management
  • Planning and executing tasks for IT projects. Responsibilities include collaborating with internal IT and business partners, completing work towards project milestones, documenting progress, and outcomes.
  • Contribute to day-to-day operational and system administration workload. Share insights and knowledge with the team through regular meetings.
  • Assist with overall IT support of our customers/business partners. This includes but is not limited to troubleshooting the technical issues for the operational teams we support with a sense of urgency and a proactive customer service mindset. After hours support of scheduled maintenance or ad hoc resolution of issues may occur.
  • Documentation of system configurations, procedures or troubleshooting steps, network maps, and knowledge base articles.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Pursing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field.

Travel Requirements: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected less than 5% of the time.

Other Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge in Microsoft O365, on-prem ADFS, Exchange Hybrid Environment, Windows Server, Desktop OS, and Power Shell is preferred, but not required to perform work assignments.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks and follow-ups. This position requires high standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Must be able to work independently, yet keep leaders informed on the status of work and important issues.
  • Must accept responsibility for assigned tasks, possess good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work and deal with stress. Must be capable of working cooperatively with others.
  • Must be capable of handling the work schedule and attendance.

Work Environment:

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels from high-speed computer printers and other peripherals. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to various work-sites may also be required, depending on the assignment.
