Marcum LLP is seeking a Generalist Tax Senior to join our growing and well established national firm in our New York City office. This position requires a high energy, experienced professional with strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.

This position is specific to our Consumer Products Tax Practice, which focuses on tax business planning, advisory & compliance services for closely held business groups within the consumer products industry. The group also advises in multi-generational wealth planning with a heavy concentration in closely held entities and individual returns.

Responsibilities:
* Contains advanced technical knowledge of accounting standards and reporting standards in researching, completing and reviewing technical areas.
* Addresses questions on technical accounting matters from team members and upper level client management
* Has intermediate to advanced level tax preparation skills
* Performs a detailed review of team's workflow and monitors tasks to ensure they are assigned and completed on a timely basis
* Manages multiple assignments inside an engagement
* Communicates with Partner, Manager and/or Supervising Senior on work status and client issues that arise
* Has advanced knowledge of applicable accounting software (e.g. Axcess Tax, Engagement, SurePrep, etc.)
* Participates in planning and execution of client engagement in collaboration with the Manager and/or Partner on the job
* Identifies opportunities to leverage staff including designing staffing structure of engagement
* Leads small to medium sized assignments with finalized document and report requiring minimal change upon review
* Trains, supervises and mentors lower level staff
* Takes a lead role in client and team meetings and contributes new ideas and strategic initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a preferred field of study in Accounting
  • CPA eligible
  • 3+ years' of relevant work and industry experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, but also work well with others
  • two days per week in office requirement

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA license or on track to obtain
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation
  • Software Experience - CCH Axcess Tax, Microsoft Office 365

    Compensation Range

    Salary: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00
