As a Quality Control Technician, you will perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of lab samples and production batches for such purposes as first lot control (FLC) product review, quality control, process control, or product development. You will be located at PPG's Oak Creek, WI plant, and report to the Manager, Quality Services. Key Responsibilities Create scale up samples and tests new/revised formulas that qualify for FLC product review and for batch investigations (supports Production and Engineering team) Communicates results between QC, Production, Engineering and Technical teams. Set up, adjusts, calibrates, and operates laboratory equipment and instruments such paint guns, mixers, viscometers, chemical balances, pH meters, gloss meters, solids analyzer, spectrophotometer, and other equipment. Test samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications. Organize and maintain records. Evaluate retains of production batches in response to quality complaints. Perform occasional quality audits of laboratory and production work instructions to ensure compliance to the company's Quality Policy. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field preferred. Inspection, test and product evaluation experience General knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma methodologies preferred. Ability to clearly identify and communicate issues that need to be addressed and to take the necessary steps to avoid future errors.
