Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking an AAssistant Dean/Director of Student Compliance. Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Assistant Dean/Director of Student Compliance for Rutgers University-Newark is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive plan to ensure that Rutgers University-Newark is in compliance with Title IX and
ADA regulations as well as related federal, state and local laws and guidelines, and ensure compliance with all relevant Rutgers University policies and procedures.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Routinely advise the Dean of Students and Senior Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs as well as other members of the Rutgers University-Newark executive team on national trends in higher education that are related to Title IX and ADA in an effort to improve services, policies, processes and to ensure compliance and mitigate risk;
- Keep abreast of and advise on any newly enacted and proposed federal, state, and local laws and guidelines that will impact Title IX and ADA activities at Rutgers University-Newark and will have responsibility for understanding, communicating, and guiding the stakeholders through the appropriate Rutgers University policies and procedures;
- Maintain a relationship with Rutgers Access and Disability Resources (RADR), University Ethics and Compliance (UEC), as well as the Office of General Counsel;
- Will have the responsibility for leading, creating, implementing and assessing all educational and outreach efforts;
- Serve as the Title IX Coordinator for Rutgers-Newark and will have responsibility for working closely with university stakeholders and various Rutgers University central offices to ensure that all processes and procedures for reporting and investigating Title IX and ADA complaints comply with applicable policies and procedures;
- Work closely with the Dean of Students to continually assess policies and procedures for students and make recommendations for improvement that will ensure compliance with state and federal mandates and Rutgers University policies and procedures;
- Serve as the Rutgers University-Newark representative on various Rutgers University working groups and committees for Title IX and ADA to ensure proper services and infrastructure are provided for Rutgers University-Newark students and other stakeholders.
- Routinely advise on all current Title IX and ADA policies and processes as administered by the Office of Employment Equity and University Human Resources;
- Work collaboratively with UHR on student Title IX and ADA matters involving faculty and staff, and will have the responsibility for routinely communicating with the Office of Employment Equity, University Human Resources, and Human Resources-Newark when appropriately advising faculty and staff on and emerging issues.
- Create and provide a comprehensive schedule of trainings that create awareness and inform the university community about Title IX and ADA regulations;
- Serve as the Ombudsperson for Rutgers University-Newark students, providing a resource for impartial complaint investigation and resolution in a variety of university-related situations.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Requires a master's degree in a related field, plus three (3) years of relevant experience that demonstrates expertise in compliance issues OR a bachelor's degree in a related field, plus five (5) years of relevant experience that demonstrates expertise in compliance issues

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Professional experience in Title IX and ADA compliance, law, human resources (employee relations or EEO/AA), student conduct, sexual violence investigation or prevention that includes conducting internal investigations and resolving grievances
- Will need to remain current as to all relevant federal, state and local laws and guidelines;
- Will need to understand and apply all university and system policies and procedures;
- must demonstrate good self-management, excellent communication skills, detail orientation, and problem-solving ability in interactions with University personnel, students and parents;
- Must serve as an advocate for students with disabilities and promote awareness of disability issues.

- Advanced degree in a related field (human resources, law, higher education administration);
- Experience in higher education setting;
