Job Description

We are currently hiring a temporary ISD Lead to support communications efforts within the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The ISD Lead would come with a deep understanding of developing learning content for position-specific training and experience with providing guidance, coaching, and development support to a team. The anticipated duration of temporary employment would be 12 months. Ideal candidates would possess experience working for a federal organization and possess a strong network across the Department of Homeland Security.

In this ISD Lead position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals. Typical work assignments include:



  • Providing direction, feedback, and support to a team of instructional designers
  • Leading in decision making related to the instructional design team
  • Identifying and elevating resource needs, concerns, and risks to executive project leadership
  • Managing the development process from scheduling, course design, and QA/QC; executing on-time, complete deliverables
  • Tracking and reporting weekly course statuses throughout the development process
  • Communicating and reinforcing course development processes and standards to the instructional design team
  • Preparing for and facilitating effective meetings with the client, client stakeholders, team members, and the leadership team
  • Identifying opportunities to implement innovative solutions to team and/or client challenges
  • Collaborate with the QA/QC team for scheduling and managing final deliverables


Qualifications

What are the Required Qualifications?



  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of specialized experience performing duties such as:

    • Applying adult learning best practices to training content
    • Leading instructional design teams in a government setting
    • Reviewing, evaluating, and developing course material for quality, consistency, and compliance with established style, format, content, and Section 508 requirements
    • Leading and managing agile learning projects in a fast-paced environment


  • Proven track record in gaining client trust and building credibility
  • Experience managing components of training, content, or curriculum development
  • Demonstrated excellence presenting to an executive-level audience, both written and oral
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Ability to successfully complete and retain any company, federal, or other background investigations required to perform client work


What are the Desired Qualifications?



  • Emergency Management Background or other DHS experience highly preferred
  • Previous writer-editor experience within DHS highly desired


Compensation:

$55 - $72/hour, plus some benefits
