Job Summary:

The Department of Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking outstanding candidates for a tenure-track faculty position. Desirable candidates should be able to a) teach courses within our Kinesiology major, with an emphasis on epidemiology, public health, measurement, research methods and health policy, (b) provide exemplary undergraduate instruction and graduate student training, and (c) secure extramural funding to support distinguished research in an area of Physical Activity Epidemiology.
Appointment start date will be August 19, 2024. Appointment will be full time for the nine-month academic year. Salary is competitive and contingent on experience and qualifications. Additional remuneration for summer session teaching is possible.


Responsibilities:

1) Teach undergraduate courses within the Kinesiology major and graduate courses within the Physical Activity Epidemiology Named Option.
2) Advise undergraduate, masters, and doctoral students.
3) Participate in faculty governance and other service to the university, department and profession.
4) Establish a program of research including publication of findings, presentation at scientific conferences, and pursuit of external funding to support research studies.

Education:

Required
PhD in Kinesiology, Physical Activity Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field.

Earned doctorate by August 2024.


Qualifications:

Evidence of established scholarship with the potential for contributions of national significance.

Post-doctoral research experience (strongly preferred).

Evidence of success securing extramural funding (preferred).

Evidence of successful teaching experience at the university level (preferred).

Expertise in one or more of the following research areas: surveillance, correlates, health outcomes, interventions, measurement, or policies related to physical activity.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
