Position Summary |
Flexible work arrangements, including virtual/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. As such, this position's work location is designated as hybrid. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit's business needs. The Director of Educational Effectiveness provides strategic leadership, oversight, and direction of the statewide MD program evaluation and accreditation processes. The Director will be responsible for ensuring that the curriculum and student affairs programming within the MD program are aligned with School of Medicine goals, which include preparing learners to improve the health and wellbeing of North Carolinians and others whom we serve. The Director of Educational Effectiveness will report to the Senior Director of Curricular Affairs and will work closely with the senior directors and deans of admissions, student affairs, and curriculum to accomplish goals. The Director of Educational Effectiveness will be the primary contact and lead for all accreditation and program evaluation processes. They will co-chair the committee on accreditation with the faculty accreditation lead to ensure thorough preparation of staff and faculty, statewide, for all accreditation visits and submissions to the
LCME. They will be responsible for planning and enacting a cohesive, collaborative, and coordinated, and comprehensive accreditation cycle. The Director will lead the student committee on accreditation and serve as a liaison to the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (
LCME)The Director of Educational Effectiveness will also lead the planning, development and implementation of the program evaluation process for the MD program. This includes leading a team to design and execute a timeline for all internal course, phase, and curricular reviews and to receive, process, and disseminate the results of national surveys of educational and programmatic effectiveness. The Director will train a team to develop and refine all internal course and program evaluation surveys and provide technical assistance and consultation regarding the use, development, and ongoing improvement of the evaluations and evaluation process. The Director will lead a team including the Assistant Director for Program Evaluation and Accreditation, the
LCME accreditation specialist, the curriculum project manager, and the Director of Educational Scholarship. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities related to consulting or developing course content, curriculum, instructional technique/technology, distance education design, development or implementation, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Experience in design and implementation of program evaluation initiatives. Proficiency with strategic planning, assessment, and data analysis. Ability to establish rapport and relate well to students, faculty, employers, and staff. Ability to ensure and apply compliance with university and external policies and regulations. Resilience; demonstrated ability to problem-solve, while maintaining a positive, solution-focused approach. Proficiency in all aspects of computer operations essential including, strong working knowledge of MS Office Word and Excel. A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to operate with minimal daily supervision required. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to proactively identify issues and develop creative solutions. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Prefer someone with experience in a health professions accreditation role. Experience leading
LCME accreditation related processes is extremely desirable. Skill in survey design, data display, project management and proficiency in relevant technologies (e.g. Smart Sheet, Excel, Tableau, etc.) are preferred. Ideally, candidates will be familiar with the primary functions of admissions, curricular/academic affairs, and student affairs teams within academic administration units, classroom and clinical learning environments, and the coordination of regional campuses. Preference given to individuals who have at least three years of experience in a leadership position. |
