Assists in the implementation of new systems and processes in the NSH Health Information Services Department. Assesses Site specific needs and represents the same for site specific and System initiatives. Represents

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Works with System Manager/System Director to establish/develop the NSH and overall departmental strategic plan, including annual section and departmental goals, objectives and budget to meet the hospital's mission, goals and objectives.
  2. Assumes responsibility/accountability for managing section to ensure effective fiscal management, staffing levels, productivity and achievement of department service standards. Work with Director to achieve overall financial and resource management results.
  3. Collaborates with System Manager to evaluate manual/automated procedures, workflow, work assignments, policy and procedures, staffing requirements, new technology, vendors, contracts and industry development etc., for redesign, refinement, etc. for section and overall department.
  4. Collaborates with System Manager to develop/implement recruitment/retention plan, including hiring, orientation, training, administering human resources policies, procedures, payroll and employee records for section and overall department.
  5. Prepares needed statistical and other reports as required internally and externally.
  6. Manages NSH HPF daily operations. Manages NSH work queues as appropriate. Advises System Manager, System Director and Atlanta Optical Imaging Coordinator, Physician Record Completion/Transcription Coordinator and HIS Supervisors as appropriate.
  7. Administers medical staff bylaws for NSH chart completion, including but not limited to physicians to be suspended and actual suspension. Works with System Manager to ensure successful accreditation through acceptable chart delinquency levels.
  8. Provide daily guidance HIS ROI Functions. Represents NSH as needed regarding release of information. Works with outsourced ROI company to meeting turnaround times, adherence to NSH and HIS Department ROI guidelines.
  9. Responsible to interdepartmental communication as it relates to medical record management, IM HIS related JCAHO standards, problem resolution as directed by NSH Administration, System HIS management.
  10. Acts as the Medical Staff Liaison for HPF training and resolves issues as identified with same.
  11. Assists the HIS Coordinator, Clinical Data with NSH Forms management.
  12. Orients physicians on chart completion requirements and suspension process.
  13. Manages daily overall department operations.
  14. Serves as Acting System Manager in the System Manager's absence.

REQUIRED:

1. RHIA and 5 years experience in a manager capacity in a medium acute care hospital or a director in a small size acute care facility.

2. Previous experience in working with an imaging system or working in an
