Sr. Design Specialist needed for a contract to hire opportunity with SOC's client to work onsite in Malabar, FL.
Sr. Design Specialist will be responsible for leading troubleshooting and debugging of extremely complex CCAs containing multiple FPGAs, processors, and high speed interfaces that are considered out of the manufacturing flow currently. The candidate will be assigned and be responsible for the resolution of a large group of failing modules/CCAs, and will be expected to perform testing to determine root cause of failure. This person will be interacting daily with members of many different disciplines, and may be asked to brief internal and external leadership of any findings and progress being made.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to perform complex integration and debug of CCAs containing FPGAs, Processors, and high speed interfaces.
- Applies complex electrical engineering principles and techniques to lead design, development, documentation, verification, and manufacturing debug activities.
- Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
- Analyzes environment/component tolerances to identify corner cases and ensure sufficient design margin for all applicable conditions.
- Directly interfaces with members of the product development team to produce high quality/dependable products. Members impacted by electrical design include Mechanical Engineering, Test Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, Software Engineering, Verification Engineering, other engineering, PWB Design, and Management teams.
- Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Performs difficult and complex research and/or development assignments. Decisions and recommendations have a moderate effect on division performance.
- Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
- Develop collaborative relationships with Engineering Managers and Program Leadership to support business demands
Must Haves:
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related electrical engineering experience.
- 7+ years experience with circuit card design processes including requirements generation, preliminary design (block diagram generation, long lead part identification), detailed design (schematic generation, simulation, place & route), test plan generation, and integration & test
- Experience operating electronics laboratory equipment including: digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes (DSO, Mixed Signal), signal generators, DC power supplies, etc.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience leading teams to design and debug Digital CCAs (Technical, Cost, & Schedule)
- Experience with signal integrity analysis tools (Hyperlynx preferred)
- Experience with Mentor Graphics Xpedition tool suite
- Experience with high speed serial protocols
- 10/25 Gb Ethernet, PCI Express Gen 2/3, Fibre Channel, among other high speed standards
- Experience with high speed memory interfaces
- Has the ability to lead teams through conflict, clarify objectives, and develop consensus/buy-in as required.
- Experience integrating with firmware/software and leading lab integration activities
- Experience with testing and qualification of the deliverable system
