Department:COM | Peds Community PediatricsDepartment's Website: Summary of Job Duties:This position, housed in the Community Pediatrics section of the Department of Pediatrics in the College of Medicine, consists of 2 distinct but complementary, non-clinical, roles and is fundamentally a manager position with half-time given to each of the research and program roles.UAMS Community Pediatrics navigates the intersection of advocacy, public health, direct clinical service and social determinants of health with an emphasis on serving the underserved and magnifying their voice to the state of Arkansas and beyond. We work to provide exceptional, family-centered care driven by scientific discovery and evidence-based medicine. Our sections' research is centered on improving child health outcomes, health equity and performing community-based research which informs and shapes local, state and federal policy around child health. In addition to spearheading the research mission of the Community Pediatrics, the person in this role will also be the Site Manager for Children's HealthWatch. Children's HealthWatch (CHW) is a nonpartisan network of pediatricians, public health researchers, and children's health and policy experts committed to improving children's health in America, headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. Since 1998, Children's HealthWatch has collected data in healthcare settings to study the impact of public policy on the health, nutrition, and development of children ages zero to four. Between Community Pediatrics and CHW roles, a successful candidate will be able to manage all aspects of research, from literature review, grant development and Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol development and maintenance, including supervision of research staff and students and interaction with leadership and peers. The candidate will also develop and maintain relationships with the entire Community Pediatrics section as well as clinical and community partners in Central Arkansas. Ideally, the candidate will have direct experience or in-depth understanding of data collection, needs assessments, qualitative and quantitative research, research management and community engagement. The candidate will be expected to function independently and work collaboratively across multiple teams, adhere to deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a highly organized manner. Successful candidates will have a can-do attitude, strong communication skills, including both written and verbal, and problem-solving skills. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
