One (1) part-time vacancy beginning in Spring 2025 semester.

This is an academic year position which typically runs from mid- August through mid-May.


Under the supervision of the Dean to teach introductory and intermediate classes in Information Technology Networking including the setup, securing, monitoring, and troubleshooting of computer networks and emerging technologies. Responsible for preparing, conducting, and evaluating technical training programs for IT Networking. Writes literature and materials to be used in programs and hands-on design exercises to enhance lectures. This position may instruct courses at multiple MATC campuses in either day and/or evening programs. Related duties include curriculum development, participation in departmental and campus activities, and other duties as assigned.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. A Master's Degree in any of the following:
a. Computer Science,
b. Computer Science Education,
c. Electrical Engineering,
d. Computer Engineering,
e. Management Information Systems,
f. IT Networking,
g. Information Security;
h. A closely related area such as-Information Science & Technology, Web Development, Engineering, Information Assurance, Business Administration, Social Media Marketing, Computer Forensics.

2. A Master's Degree in any field with 18 graduate credits in IT or a closely related area such as: Computer Science, Computer Science Education, Information Science & Technology, Web Development, Engineering, Information Assurance, Business Administration, Social Media Marketing, Computer Forensics.

3. Bachelor's Degree with 14,000 hrs of IT work or 14,000 hours (7 years) of IT instructional experience.

Occupational Experience:
Must have a minimum of 2 years (4,000 hours) of work experience in the field of Information Technology. In addition, one of the following must be met:
  • At least one year of work experience must have occurred within the last five years OR
  • Two years of teaching Information Technology course work at the post-secondary level within the last five years.
Industry Certification(s):
Teaching the following courses require additional certifications as noted below:
  • ITNET-131: Instructor Certification (CCSI) - CCNAv7: Introduction to Networks

  • ITNET-132: Instructor Certification (CCSI) - Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials

  • ITNET-133: Instructor Certification (CCSI) - Enterprise Networking, Security, and Automation

  • ITNET-157: VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)

  • ITNET-159: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  4. Distance Learning Instruction - Experience with online, two-way video, ITV, and other methods of distance learning instruction.

Supplemental Information

Start Date:

This position supports the STEM Pathway and is available to start in the Spring semester 2025.

Hours:

Up to 19 hours weekly, in-person and virtually, primarily based out of the West Allis Campus. Hours worked per week will vary based on course load. Work is conducted during scheduled course hours, Monday - Friday

Salary:

The starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.
