Your Role
Join Atlas Copco as a Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer where you will work on the PLC-based control system development, design, and drawing review, bill of material, and documentation for production of our engineered to order centrifugal compressors. You will also provide technical support to the controls, engineering project teams, application engineering and field service. As part of the Controls team, you will report to the Controls Team Leader and work with Systems Engineering and Manufacturing. This is a hybrid position located in Voorheesville, NY.
- You will review customer specifications and coordinate with the engineering team leaders and project managers to clarify the scope of supply and incorporate the requirements following standards and best practices.
- You will provide technical support in the creating and maintaining of drawings, bill of materials, schematics, documentation, design calculations/verification, and new component research based on the project specification and accepted design practices.
- You will understand and apply electrical industry standards to compressor instrumentation and control systems.
- You will understand the properties of fluid controls systems and compressor control logic as they apply to the process, lube oil, and seal gas systems.
- You will select the appropriate electrical and control components based on project specifications.
- You will lead technical discussions with customers and vendors to provide technical answers on engineering issues.
- You will conduct design review meetings to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the control system deliverables and ensure designs comply with company and international standards.
- You will participate in improvement efforts in engineering processes and to eliminate sources of error.
- You will propose and contribute design concepts.
- You will attend project kick-off meetings, design reviews, and regular team meetings.
- You will maintain accurate and organized design records for our quality procedures.
To succeed, you will need
- You hold a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering or similar field, or have equivalent work experience.
- You have at least 5 years' experience designing PLC-based control and monitoring systems.
- You can occasionally travel, including national and international travel up to 5-10% annually.
