Summary of Job Duties:The Research Assistant will be responsible for processing biological specimens, performing research experiments, analyzing data, and presenting results to the investigator. This position requires maintaining accurate records of research activities, including experiment data, equipment logs, and any protocol deviations. Additionally, the Research Assistant will manage research data, coordinate trial activities, and ensure the integrity and quality of both basic and translational research. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in biology, chemistry, or related scientific field plus three (3) years of research experience required.
  • Must feel comfortable and confident when handling hazardous substances: physical (sharps), biological (human tissue and fluids) and chemical (formaldehyde, dry ice and liquid nitrogen).
  • ASCP Histotechnician certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in biology, chemistry, or related scientific field
  • Experience in histology laboratory or 3 years of clinical laboratory experience

Responsibilities:

Biological Specimen Processing:

  • Collects, handles, and processes biological specimens as per research protocols.
  • Ensures samples are properly labeled, stored, and maintained for future analysis.

Research Experiments:

  • Performs laboratory experiments and procedures as directed by the investigator.
  • Records and document experimental procedures and results accurately.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyzes experimental data and prepare summaries for review by the investigator.
  • Presents research findings and results to the research team or supervisor.

Record Maintenance:

  • Maintains appropriate records for research activities, including logs for equipment, experiment data, and analysis documents.
  • Tracks and documents any protocol deviations or issues encountered during the research process.

Data Management:

  • Performs data management activities such as filing, data entry, archiving, and ensuring all research documents are properly organized.
  • Safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with institutional data protection policies.

Trial Coordination:

  • Coordinates research trial activities, including scheduling tests, exams, and other experiments.
  • Ensures participants and necessary staff are informed and prepared for all scheduled activities.

Research Integrity and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and quality of basic and translational research is maintained.
  • Comply with all research protocols and institutional guidelines.
