The Columbia, Montour, Snyder, Union County (CMSU) Drug & Alcohol unit is looking for a motivated and dependable person interested in providing prevention services within schools and throughout the community. Our prevention services include drug and alcohol education and training to school students and staff. If you are passionate about helping young people build a strong foundation for their future, we want you on our team!


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Drug & Alcohol Prevention Specialist, you will provide a variety of prevention activities involving schools and community; provide programs in schools regarding drug and alcohol use/abuse; and disseminate educational materials to enhance awareness of drug and alcohol related issues. CMSU works in conjunction with the local school districts to educate and inform school students, staff, and families regarding the use/abuse of drug and/or alcohol. You will have the opportunity to participate in community groups and coalitions aimed at prevention of ATOD use/abuse among school students.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Drug and Alcohol Prevention Specialist Trainee; or
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Health Education, Education, the Social or Behavioral Sciences or related fields and one year experience in drug and alcohol prevention work; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
