Sales Engineer is responsible for providing direct pricing and design support to internal and external customers on design/build and publicly bid projects using the most current pricing available. They apply knowledge of structures, materials and construction techniques to support Field Sales and Estimators related to advanced design considerations and ensuring estimate designs are being done in accordance with the high standards of the organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares calculations and engineering details from information received such as contract drawings, specifications, and addendums using in-house pricing programs and supplemental design programs
  • Provides detailed consultation to Builders, Field Sales and Estimators regarding building codes, complex framing scenarios and non-standard geometries
  • Identifies exclusions, discrepancies, missing information and obtains clarification and qualifies the quotation (through Project Notes) based on that information
  • Evaluates customer provided information for cost effective solutions (value engineering)
  • Ensures the use of the most current pricing information when preparing the estimate
  • Builds and maintains Builder/Vendor relationships
  • Provides training to Builder Network and Field Sales on proper use of BuilderWorx User Interface
  • Communicates with Builders, Sales, Customer Service and Engineering regarding any clarification of scope/design intent that the Sales Engineer was involved in
  • Self performs and/or checks complex estimates
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required
Qualifications
  • Associates Degree in Engineering related field is required. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from and ABET accredited curriculum with a major field of study in structural design or equivalent is preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in pre-engineered metal buildings industry utilizing the design systems for various projects is required for a higher level Sales Engineer titled position
  • Solid foundation in structural engineering is the baseline for an associate level Sales Engineer
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple workflows simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods
  • Ability to review and interpret project specifications
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Exhibit competency of in-house design programs and procedures
  • Must be comfortable on the phone with customers and Field Sales
  • Willing to learn the PEMB businessin both product offerings and design considerations
  • AutoCAD experience preferred

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000 to $105,000 (based on experience) + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. (Full-time is defined as regularly working 30+ hours per week.)
