Strategic Pharmacy Sourcing Manager

Job Summary:

Lead the creation, execution and management of comprehensive sourcing strategies for Pharmacyrsquo;s clinical and non-clinical supplies and services. Ensures lowest total cost of ownership through managed demand, utilization, and optimal pricing. Negotiate, benchmark, implement, and monitor large scale

acquisitions, contracts, and product portfolios to ensure Jefferson Health takes full advantage of value based, state of the art medications, devices, and opportunities.

Support cross-functional project teams and develop and leverage supplier partnerships, Jefferson Health relationships, and group purchasing organization (GPO) contracts to meet business requirements to create sustainable solutions that maximize cost effectiveness for the enterprise and support its strategic direction.

Essential Functions:

Support cross-functional project teams and develop and leverage supplier partnerships, Jefferson Health relationships, and group purchasing organization (GPO) contracts to meet business requirements to create sustainable solutions that maximize cost effectiveness for the enterprise and support its strategic direction.

Manages all stages of sourcing process from situation analysis, business requirements gathering, market research and intelligence, strategy creation, request for proposal, negotiation, award, implementation, and budgetary compliance.

Supports strategic supplier relationships through establishment and measurement of KPIs and other performance measures to deliver enterprise-wide cost optimization and maintain focus on pioneering, innovate products and services

Highly organized, self-motivated decision-maker working with minimal supervision and able to manage multiple priorities

Assist business in identifying trends for performance improvement, including business capture, operational efficiencies and cost reduction. Perform other responsibilities as assigned


  • Bachelor#39;s Degree in business is required. Masterrsquo;s Degree is preferred
  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing, contract management or materials management setting
  • Three years or greater of experience working in a healthcare or pharmaceutical setting preferred
  • C.P.M. from the Institute for Supply Management, Inc. or a CMRP certification from the Association for Healthcare Resource amp; Materials Management of the American Hospital Association is preferred
  • Employee must have excellent communications, interpersonal, analytical, time management, and organizational skills as well as multi-tasking abilities.
  • Familiarity and experience with accepted purchasing practices and concepts.
  • Strong background in analyzing and reviewing price documents and researching product/service sourcing and options.
