Position Description


Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
The Assistant Program Director ( APD) for the new Online Master of Social Work ( MSW) program will report directly to the Department Chair, and an integral team member of the leadership in the Department of Social Work. This role is essential in overseeing the online MSW program's daily operations, ensuring student academic success, and providing strategic direction.

Faculty:

  • Coordinate with faculty to ensure course content meets academic standards and industry requirements.
  • Oversee the scheduling of courses and assist Chair with faculty assignments.
  • Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing support of online faculty.



Students:

  • In coordination with Chair of MSW Admissions Committee, facilitate admissions decisions and associated processes for online MSW applicants.
  • Create framework for academic supports provided to students.
  • With support of Online Program Manager, serve as a primary point for enrolled online MSW students.
  • Monitor student performance and retention rates, implementing strategies for improvement.

Program:

  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures specific to online MSW program that are aligned and integrated into the overall MSW program and school.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating the online MSW curriculum.
  • Serve as primary point of contact with marketing, enrollment and student success offices for the online MSW program.
  • In coordination with the Chair, ensure the program meets all accreditation requirements and standards.
  • Prepare accreditation reports and documentation as required.
  • Assist the Department Chair in resource allocation, prepare reports on program performance, faculty activities, and student outcomes, provide input for faculty and staff evaluations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Faculty Responsibilities:

  • Teach online courses or hybrid courses using innovative teaching modalities.
  • Create online course content and materials in areas of expertise using innovative teaching modalities.
  • Create a student-centered learning environment.
  • Engage regularly with students in online forums, discussion boards, and virtual meetings.
  • Grade learning activities and provide timely constructive feedback.
  • Mentor student-directed academic work.
  • Provide academic advising.
  • Engage in faculty scholarship in the SW area of expertise and interest
  • Engage in service at department, school, university, profession and the community
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE accredited institution.
  • Five (5) years post-MSW social work practitioner experience in the field of Social Work.
  • One (1) year full-time experience in social work education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Social Work or Doctorate in Social Work.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in social work education, with a focus on online program management.
  • Demonstrated experience in online curriculum development and instructional design.
  • Experience in academic advising and student support services.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Grant management and program development.Experience with online education platforms and technologies.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven knowledge of accreditation standards and processes for social work programs.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Schedule is dependent on course and department needs.
Hiring Range $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
