HDR is an architectural, engineering and consulting firm that excels at complex projects and solving challenges for clients.

More than 10,000 professionals, including architects, engineers, consultants, scientists, planners and construction managers, in over 225 locations worldwide, pool their solutions beyond the scope of traditional A/E/C firms.

The Freight/Rail Intern performs assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager. This is an individual enrolled in undergraduate engineering studies or a graduate without prior experience.

Preferred Qualifications



  • 2 years completed toward degree
  • 3.00 GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
  • Interest in the freight railroad industry and/or rail transit

Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Attention to detail
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
