Position Purpose
The Assistant Project Manager will work in a supporting role while assisting project managers on all aspects of capital project delivery. Major capital projects (larger than $25M) are typically led by a senior project manager and require day-to-day support of an assistant project manager. The position often requires the facilitation and management of project documentation and record keeping as well as on-site observations, milestone tracking, and reporting. This position requires close collaboration and interaction with multiple contacts in the divisions and departments across the College as well as outside vendors, contractors and municipal agencies.
Project Management Services is part of Campus Services with a focus on the design and construction of campus buildings and grounds. Dartmouth facilities include over 5 million square feet of space in 165 buildings, serving over 6,000 students and 4,000 faculty and staff in a variety of academic, research, administrative, athletic, and residential spaces.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Bachelors plus 2-3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • BS/BA in planning, architecture, engineering, construction, or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum two years' work experience in project management, construction, design, engineering, or related field working in a client facing role.
  • Knowledge of construction administration principles.
  • Solutions-oriented, team player who has a "can-do" attitude and who is confident in their ability to reach solutions in a dynamic process.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver excellent client service on multiple assignments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using eBuilder, Procore, Adobe Suite and Bluebeam
  • Experience using scheduling software such as Microsoft Project (or similar).

Description
Project Manager Support

  • Assist Project Managers in all phases of project management including design, construction, permitting, occupancy, quality control, staffing, scheduling and budget management.
  • Understand contract terms, conditions and requirements.
  • Effectively manage a variety of work to required standards of quality, quantity, and timeliness.
  • Thoroughly review, interpret, and understand the project specifications and contract drawings; and evaluate project documents for compliance with owner quality expectations and contractual requirements.
  • Assist in development of project schedules and milestones.
  • Participate in project meetings to document project progress and record minutes.
  • Help to manage the day-to-day oversight and operations related to the project, including interfacing with the project team members.
  • Interact with team members using effective and respectful communication.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to oversee owner vendors and third-party consultants with the A/E/C team.
  • Evaluate change orders from the Contractor, and additional service requests from consultants.
