Detailed Description:

We have an opportunity for an Electrical Field Services Inspector to join our team. The successful candidate will primarily support our team working on the multi-year $400M upgrade of the Sand Island wastewater facility with opportunities to support various projects for our municipal clients. The candidate will work directly with our Hawaii-based construction management and engineering teams, other consulting firms, and clients, for construction installations of facilities serving the water and wastewater industries. Construction will include low- and medium-voltage plant power distribution systems, motor control centers, variable frequency drives (VFDs) and soft starters, motors, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), instrumentation, and other related equipment for plant power and control systems. Project work will include working with design engineers and contractors to perform field investigations, field engineering support during construction, inspections for compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and client specifications, equipment testing and commissioning, and developing project redlines documenting as-built conditions. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment to help provide inspections for new facilities, expansions, upgrades, and retrofits.

Additional Responsibilities:



  • Perform constructability reviews of designs.
  • Demonstrate skills with thorough knowledge of electrical construction procedures, practices, installation, and testing methods, as well as knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
  • Provide assistance with field investigations for arc flash data collection and ground grid testing.
  • Research electrical equipment standards and specifications, design equipment layout and coordination with process mechanical, produce circuit and panel schedules, conduct engine generator sizing using vendor software.
  • Perform electrical calculations including arc flash, short circuit, system coordination, voltage drop, equipment sizing, and research and design to the current National Electrical Code
  • Ability to work extended hours and support as-needed weekend work in a construction environment.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to provide comprehensive daily inspection reports.


Desired Skills and Experience:



  • Knowledge of NEC requirements for industrial and commercial installations.
  • NEC knowledge shall include grounding and bonding, motor load requirements, hazardous location requirements, working clearances and access, and conduit and conductor sizing.
  • Knowledge of the NFPA 70E standard (certification is a plus).
  • OSHA 10- and 30-hour Certification or the ability to obtain through company training.
  • Knowledge of practical means and methods for electrical and instrumentation installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Ability to review and respond to submittals and requests for information (RFIs).
  • Ability to understand Electrical, Instrumentation, and Process and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) drawings.
  • Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and contextually.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently use standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Bluebeam or PDF writer, and Outlook.
  • Adapt to and use company tools and systems in place to monitor project budget and schedule.
  • Take ownership of assigned project work to see work product through to the end of delivery.


Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $85,000 - $116,000
