Global Trade Compliance Specialist (Allentown, PA)

We are looking for a Global Trade Compliance Specialist to join our Classification and Controls team within the Global Trade Compliance organization. This position supports our global businesses by ensuring compliance with import and export regulations, with a primary focus on classifying goods for international trade. As a key player in this role, you will assign Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) to our internal customers, while also supporting larger classification projects and licensing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Classification of Goods: Assign HTS classification numbers and ECCNs to imported and exported goods, ensuring compliance with US and global regulations. Regulatory Compliance: Identify goods that require licensing and ensure compliance with global export controls, including dual-use regulations. General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs): Apply GRIs and document justifications for HTS assignments clearly and properly. Licensing Determinations: Ensure accurate ECCN licensing determinations in accordance with US Department of Commerce, BIS, and the Commerce Control List (CCL). Large Projects: Participate in large classification projects, including mega project bid proposals, and support broader trade compliance tasks. Collaboration: Work with internal teams to ensure compliance and maintain smooth operations for global trade.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge & Skills:

    • Strong understanding of HTSUS and other global harmonized systems (EU, Canada, Asia preferred).

    • Ability to classify goods under the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and the Commerce Control List (CCL).

    • Experience with import/export compliance regulations and familiarity with US Code of Regulations.

  • Experience:

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    • Ability to manage multiple tasks with good organizational skills.

    • Proficiency in SAP ECC, SAP GTS, or similar ERP and GTM systems.

    • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as Excel, Word, SharePoint, Visio, Power Automate, and Outlook.
