Description
The Senior Pharma Applications Chemist will lead hands-on development of a portfolio of chemical products targeting oligonucleotide and peptide pharmaceutical applications. This role will work closely with customers to accelerate adoption of new and existing products.

Responsibilities


Role Specific Responsibilities:
  • Lead all aspects of chemical and process development of new chemicals for use in oligonucleotide and peptide pharmaceutical applications.
  • Explore, identify, and understand customer needs, and assist customers in applying and qualifying Aurorium Pharma products in their applications.
  • Translate customer requirements into technical work plans and develop products as needed for achieving growth.
  • Keep abreast of trends in the pharmaceutical industries and communicate opportunities and threats to the rest of the organization.
  • Convert technical information into appropriate language and level for external and internal technical and commercial audiences - present material as required.
  • Work directly with customers to advance evaluations, trials and commercialization activities
  • Serve as a project manager as well as participate as a team member on market driven growth programs and customer specific projects.
  • Become an active member of the global technology group and provide expertise, consultation, and recommendations as assigned.
  • Work directly with sales and marketing teams to develop solutions that provide customer value

Qualifications/Desired Skills

Education and Qualifications:
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or related technical discipline


Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on laboratory experience including oligonucleotide and/or peptide synthesis.
  • Demonstrated experience with amino acid and amidite modifications
  • Demonstrated experience in macromolecule purification and automated synthesizers
  • Experience working directly with external customers to solve customer problems and identify growth opportunities.
  • Excellent knowledge of analytical techniques such as GC, HPLC focus on chiral molecule analysis. Solid skills in the interpretation of NMR, IR, and MS spectra. Solid skills in technical database and literature searching
  • Previous technical contacts within the industrial and professional society communities to foster learning and to accelerate potential new business opportunities.

  • Capable of providing efficient customer service and technical support for sales and business development activities.
  • Demonstrates drive to continually learn and work to broaden knowledge based of entire organization.
  • Capable of working in a cross-functional organization with demonstration of positive collaboration, team building skills and project leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, etc.
