Heavy Equipment Mechanic

This position will provide labor and mechanic operations support to Marine Deport Maintenance Center (MDMC) rolling stock.

Compensation & Benefits:



  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Heavy Equipment Mechanic: Pay commensurate with experience.
  • Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.


Heavy Equipment Mechanic Responsibilities Include:



  • Responsible for inspecting, diagnosing and repairing mechanical defects and failures on various equipment.
  • Repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, forklifts, trucks or tractors.
  • Washes, cleans, and lubricates vehicles and other preventative maintenance; loading, unloading, and storing parts and supplies; and maintaining work areas.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Heavy Equipment Mechanic Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:



  • 5 years of experience working as a heavy equipment mechanic in the field preferable with large tractors and decks. Must be able to work in an isolated area with limitations on the availability of facilities. Preferred experience on military base. Must be able to obtain base pass.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings and technical descriptions.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and must be able to use an inventory system.
  • Interpersonal skills; patience; problem solving skills; attention to detail; organization skills; accuracy; time management; basic math skills.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
