We are seeking experience Wastewater / Maintenance Technicians to work from our manufacturing facility in Kings Mountain, NC on our Second Shift. The Wastewater / Maintenance Technician is responsible for operating the industrial wastewater treatment system at the plant that treats process wastewater for discharge to the City's publicly operated treatment works (POTW) as well as other maintenance responsibilities as assigned. He or she is responsible for maintaining all aspects of the Wastewater system, including testing, monitoring, data recording and making system adjustments as appropriate, reporting test results to the City and troubleshooting problems with support of third-party vendors. Additionally, the technician will be responsible to help support general maintenance of the system as well as other plant activities.

Position: Wastewater / Maintenance Technician.

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor.

Work Schedule: This position is scheduled to operate Monday to Friday 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. (May be required to rotate days to nights as business needs require for training or other purposes.) - Chance of Overtime.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Operate wastewater system to treat all plant process water - Including maintaining chemistry and calibrations
  • Perform testing and adjust operations accordingly to ensure treated water meets discharge requirements
  • Operate the computer system to perform basic functions, optimize and maintain settings (CMMs experience, basic computer skills required)
  • Monitor chemical usage and maintain inventory
  • Perform annual inspection, review all findings and complete all necessary corrective actions and reports
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment supporting plant as available and/or instructed.
  • Prepares, coordinates, and implements preventive maintenance utilizing work order systems.
  • Responsible for recording and data collection using Ipads and Maintenance tracking software
  • Capable of minor electrical installations.
  • Responsible for quality and food safety tasks for their position, good housekeeping and 5S processes.
  • Work with third party lab to monitor sample testing frequency and requirements, report any discharge limit exceedances to the City and request any necessary retesting from the lab
  • Generate reports of water usage and discharge compliance and submit to the City
  • Observe and enforce safety and housekeeping
  • Perform general maintenance on Wastewater System as well as plant PMs as assigned.
  • Perform other associated duties as required by management.


Requirements



  • 3+ years' experience in Wastewater Treatment
  • 3+ years general Mechanical maintenance experience
  • WW operator license is a plus

  • Requires knowledge and skills in electrical, mechanical, and electronic applications acquired through 3-5 years of experience.
  • Able to read and work from blueprints, drawings, work orders and electrical schematics.
  • Requires the ability to troubleshoot and repair all types of equipment quickly and independently.
  • Requires working at excessive heights.
  • Required to wear non-slip shoes and appropriate personal protective equipment. Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 100 lbs.

  • Perform any other duties as required by Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager.
  • Maintain complete plant cleanliness. Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement Processes including Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with demonstrated ability troubleshooting process related issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with staff and others contacted in the course of the work.
  • Ability to think and work effectively under pressure and accurately complete tasks within established times.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadline.
