Job Description

Performance Contracting is seeking motivated students with strong work ethic and a passion for VDC for our summer Design Engineer internship program. Through close mentorship and hands-on activities over the summer program, PCI provides its interns with a real-world experience to shape their understanding of BIM/VDC in the speciality construction industry.

The intern is designated a mentor and will work on completing the Performance Contracting Design Engineer Intern Checklist, a framework to provide the intern with exposure to all the disciplines within the safety operations. As tasks are completed, interns complete Weekly Project Recaps which track individual activities and require detailed description of what was done, with whom it was completed with and what is taken away from the task.

Examples of tasks on the checklist include:

    Model assemblies/elements in Revit.
  • Converting/Translating discipline and/or trade knowledge into models.
  • Project setup and file management.
  • Collaborate with VDC team and Project teams.
  • Export progress models for VDC coordination.
  • Assist other internal teams by presenting and interrogating models so that the design or information can be understood or extracted.


Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student seeking a bachelor's degree in related discipline (Construction Management, Construction Science, Architecture or Engineering fields, VDC, etc.
  • Must be able to travel to other markets within the internship period
  • Must have reliable source of transportation
  • Must be willing to relocate for the assignment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • A clear understanding of how to read and understand specifications and drawings
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • Ability to learn new job skills by engaging in the technical aspects of the job and applying new skills as they are taught
  • Customer service skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask

Preferred Requirements:

  • Based on the level of responsibility and knowledge required to be effective within the role, the internship accepts junior/senior level students only
