Senior Mechanical Engineer
Status: Exempt (Salaried) Department: PPS Engineering Position Summary The Sr. Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the engineering of static and rotating equipment and making decisions with minimum supervision as well as work independently. Experience in Oil and Gas, Hydrogen, LNG or related Hydrocarbon processes is required. This individual is expected to work with internal and external customers and be an effective team member. Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate on design teams for projects involving the design of compressors, packaged equipment, and hydrogen liquefaction process systems and facilities.
- Coordinate standard discipline engineering activities on projects with minimal supervision.
- Develop P&IDs in collaboration with the Process and Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) teams.
- Work with vendors to specify mechanical design input and criteria.
- Generate technical requisitions for mechanical equipment, review quotes from vendors and make appropriate decisions.
- Review ISO drawings utilizing knowledge of piping standards.
- Generate and complete API and equipment datasheets.
- Develop/review specifications and calculations.
- Partner with I&E and Controls Engineers utilizing knowledge of I&E design.
- Identify issues (problems, value improvement opportunities) and clarify areas of complexity during all phases of the engineering design work.
- Review and approve suppliers' design and engineering documentation and drawings.
- Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, PHA reviews and contribute to resolution of recommended action items.
- Actively participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) utilizing knowledge of ASME Code and API.
- Perform P&ID walkthroughs in shop utilizing knowledge of package equipment such as skids and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
- Read 2D (general arrangement) and 3D model reviews.
- Assist in commissioning and start-ups.
- Procure and expedite equipment, pressure safety valves (PSVs) and manual valves.
- Participate in proposal and R&D efforts for marketing support.
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience on the Engineering & Construction Contractor or Process Equipment Supplier side of static and rotating equipment.
- Working knowledge of applicable industrial codes and standards: API, ASME, PIP
- Demonstrated knowledge of piping standards, I&E design, skids and ITPs
- Ability to travel as needed to carry out duties of the position - up to 30%
