POSITION OVERVIEW

Through collaboration with Student Affairs staff, academic leadership and faculty, this individual will reach out to students who need additional support. The Student Affairs Intern will also work with our Assistant Director of Student Affairs on facilitating our P.A.C.E. (Positivity, Advocacy, Connections, Empowerment) program. P.A.C.E. is a retention initiative that focuses on students who are first generation and in their first year at Dunwoody.Through data and daily interactions with students, staff, and faculty this individual will gain experience designing and implementing programs and services that enhance the student experience and contribute to the retention efforts of the College. The individual will report to the Associate Dean of Students.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS




  • Utilize the college's established retention data sources to support individual students; and identify, create, and implement retention and success initiatives based on data themes.
  • Work closely w/ Student Affairs staff, academic deans, directors, and faculty to facilitate retention efforts within their departments.
  • Collaborate with Assistant Director of Student Affairs to support P.A.C.E. program participants.
  • Support retention efforts in other Student Affairs departments including Esports, Women's Initiatives, Housing and Residence Life, Career Services, Student Success, and the Learning Commons as needed.
  • Aid with the collection, analysis, and response to assessment data throughout Student Affairs.
  • Participate in weekly Students of Concern Intervention Team (SCIT) meetings.
  • Provide additional support to the Office of the Dean and Associate Dean of Student Affairs as needed.


Other



  • Ensure student privacy procedures are met by following government regulations in accordance with the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Advisors must know and adhere to FERPA regulations from day one of employment.
  • Assist with other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with students in a post-secondary education setting.
  • Previous experience working with diverse and under-represented populations.
  • Ability to work 15 hours per week, evenings and weekends when necessary.
