Scope of Position

This position, under specific direction from the site supervisor, maintains turbines, including but not limited to preventive maintenance and repairs as needed.



Responsibilities

Entry level: This level is intended to perform as an assistant to an experienced technician. Will perform preventive maintenance and repairs under specific direction.

Qualifications- High school or equivalent education or up to one year of related experience or training.

    Successfully complete applicable safety and technical training program for entry level technician
  • Able to demonstrate basic computer knowledge
  • Able to follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Advanced level: Perform unsupervised maintenance on wind turbine and the ability to train less experienced technicians on maintenance and operations for at least one turbine type. Understand and follow procedures and service manuals safely. Perform basic troubleshooting.

Qualifications- Education or experience related to wind turbine maintenance and repair.

  • Six months to one year experience performing maintenance on wind turbine or related industry.
  • Skilled in the use of electrical test equipment for maintenance purposes.
  • Understanding of fastener types and torquing techniques, lubrication, and wind turbine components.
  • Able to read and interpret schematics and technical data.

Senior level: Perform unsupervised maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting including live electrical circuits. Provide training to Advanced and entry level wind technicians.

Qualifications- Able to lead a "two person" crew and prioritize daily work activities and work completion on wind turbines.

  • One year minimum experience on wind turbine maintenance and repair.
  • Able to perform repair and replacement of components
    • Able to read and interpret electrical schematics and perform troubleshooting to identify failed components.
    • Knowledge of protection devices, control devices, power suppliers, loads, conductors, transducers and communication systems of wind turbines or equivalent.

Physical Demands all levels: The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Be able to work at heights, including climbing and descending wind turbine towers in various weather conditions
  • Able to work in a mechanical environment with tools, machines and moving parts
  • Operate full size pickup truck in purpose built private and public roadways
  • Able to move up to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Weigh less than 280 pounds for safety requirements

Due to weight restrictions associated with life-saving fall-arrest equipment employees are required to wear while working at heights, maximum employee weight must not exceed 280 lbs. Employee weight subject to review at any time throughout the duration of employment and required biannually.

Pay Ranges by Job Level

Entry Level: $22.00 - $36.00 Hourly

Advanced: $24.00 - $41.00 Hourly

Senior: $27.00 - $46.00 Hourly
