APPLY Student and Campus Life (SCL) inspires transformation in all Cornell students on their journey of individual, academic and personal evolution. Our division is comprised of leading student affairs experts who support our campus on pressing student life matters including public service, health, wellness, social justice, residential living, food services, sports, recreation, career services, and student activities and organizations including sorority and fraternity life. We provide support and services to roughly 25,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students on multiple campuses in the U.S. and abroad. Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) provide support to students and clinical staff by preparing the patient for their appointment, assisting during the procedure or examination when required, and cleaning the exam room. In addition, this role performs a variety of clinical functions, including: instructing patients on how to collect specimens, performing wound care, performing ECGs, Spirometry, eye exams, hearing tests or point of care testing. Additionally, this position provides patients with instructions upon discharge on the use of any medical equipment and/or medications per clinician order. The CMA also assists with stocking exam rooms, and maintaining medical supplies and equipment on clinical floors, and is crucial to maintaining smooth clinic flow for Cornell Health. This position is considered an Essential Employee; those needed on campus to meet the needs of students, research programs, or general operations when the university is in reduced operating status or closed.
