Business Operations & Strategic Initiatives Administration

Job Description

Reporting to the Business and Finance Officer for Business Operations and Strategic Initiatives (BOSI), this position is responsible for ensuring oversight and administration of key business operations and financial planning and analysis for the division including Campus Dining Services, the Mizzou Store, Parking & Transportation, Venue Management, Reservations & Events, Gustin Golf Course, Concert Series, Show-Me-State Games, and KOMU-TV.

This position provides oversight and coordination to advance the strategic initiatives and deliverables of the Business Operations department.

This position will have oversight over key functions within BOSI, turning data-driven insights into informed decisions. They will provide leadership and expertise in the business, finance, analytics, and operational functions of BOSI, including analysis of financial performance and strategic planning.

The director will play an integral role in the planning, forecasting, and integration of critical performance initiatives into the multi-year planning model for the university. Continuous improvement and a transformative mindset will be key to furthering the university's complex and cross functional business objectives.

The individual represents Business Operations, takes part in discussion and project work, and works to implement designated actions and activities. S/he must have exceptional communication skills, be flexible, and quickly adapt to rapid change and multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

This is an in-person/on-campus position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with department staff, unit leaders, and executive leaders to identify key drivers, metrics, and performance indicators of the business to derive clear and succinct analyses of the ongoing financial performance of operations.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize revenue and profitability through pricing strategies, including performing margin and pricing analysis to support ongoing and new business initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director and unit leaders to assist with budget process; identify and manage business risks; establish, implement and prepare multi-year forecasts models.
  • Provide analysis and strategic insight to senior management on a proactive and as-requested basis.
  • Lead individuals, teams, and/or projects to solve complex problems and ensure successful business operations.
  • Develop and implement a process for monitoring and managing the various contracts within BOSI.
Shift

8AM-5PM Monday through Friday

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six years or more experience in financial analysis, financial modeling or business strategy.
  • Proficiency in project management, data analytics, and reporting.
  • Experience in liaising with multiple contacts at various levels to achieve results.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel and ERP abilities, PeopleSoft and Workday Planning a plus.
  • Master's degree or other advanced degree in relevant areas of study.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $67,746-$120,000

Grade: GGS-012
