Business Operations & Strategic Initiatives Administration

Job Description

Reporting to the Business and Finance Officer for Business Operations and Strategic Initiatives (BOSI), this position is responsible for directing and overseeing the business-related functions and fiscal staff for the division, including Campus Dining Services, the Mizzou Store, Parking & Transportation, Student Unions, Gustin Golf Course, Concert Series, Show-Me-State Games, Mail Services, and KOMU-TV.

This position provides direction and oversight of the accounting, financial reporting, budget management, and financial analysis for BOSI. The focus is to provide timely, accurate, effective, and efficient financial information to executive leadership as well as management and administrative staff for each department, to support the establishment and implementation of effective systems that build the foundation for successful operations, and to recommend sound business practices and action.
This is an in-person/on-campus position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review, authorize, and monitor departmental expenditures and ensure compliance with university accounting and procurement policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements in accordance with university policies, procedures, and timetables.
  • Lead and coordinate the annual budgeting process for BOSI, including both the operational and capital budgets, working closely with each unit leader to help inform the budget.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive reporting package for unit leaders and management, establishing a process to periodically meeting with unit leaders to discuss operational performance and variance reporting.
  • Provide recommendations to improve or enhance business processes and policies.
  • Responsible for managing current accounting structure, business processes and policies, and development and implementation of new policies, procedures, and requirements while communicating and working with department leads and other parties, as necessary.
  • Coach, mentor, and direct all fiscal staff by identifying department goals and objectives.

8AM-5PM Monday through Friday

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a controller role.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain high performing teams.
  • Advanced Excel and ERP abilities, PeopleSoft and Workday Planning a plus.
  • MBA, CPA, or master's degree or other advanced degree in relevant areas of study.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $58,573-$100,000

Grade: GGS-011
